简介：消防战士龙大川因在灭火救援行动中舍己救人轰动整座城市。一时间，龙大川的英雄形象随着电视媒体、报纸杂志走进千家万户。龙大川的英雄举动引起市电视台《寻找超级英雄》栏目的关注，新闻记者罗颖带着摄像张师傅走进消防特勤二中队，旨在做一期龙大川的专访，参加全市110、120、119、999应急行业十名超级英雄的选拔。　　罗记者走进消防二中队当天，在营门口正好碰上石鹏。龙大川成为舍己救人的英雄时，石鹏正好也在救援现场。石鹏接受罗记者采访，面对镜头轻松自如侃侃而谈，殊不知罗记者是奔龙大川而来。当石鹏意识到自己抢了龙大川的“风头”时，尴尬和失意迅速笼罩而来。如果石鹏当时不是正在实施营救，英雄的光环应该戴在石鹏的头上。　　争当“超级英雄”一事，从此成了石鹏和龙大川之间的块垒，同时也在全中队引起广泛影响，战士们以选秀的姿态，踊跃参加罗记者的《寻找超级英雄》节目制作。战士们的积极性像烈火一样被点燃，周队长却在战士们高涨的积极性中意识到事情的严重。为配合电视台节目制作，引导和教育战士们正确认识生命和自我，周队长答应罗记者的采访要求，条件是在中队再找出一名英雄来。原因是，龙大川绝对不是最好的。　　周队长的条件不算苛刻，却着实让罗记者感到犯难，难道中队还有比龙大川更英雄的超级英雄。职业习惯的驱使，让罗记者开始在二中队寻找龙大川之外的另一名英雄。驻队采访的过程中，罗记者几度为龙大川“蹩脚”的表现感到疑惑，同时也为驻队以来没有火情警报提供火场实地拍摄而蹊跷。　　战士们的提醒，给了罗记者申请模拟火场救援训练的机会。模拟训练现场，龙大川和石鹏在周队长设置的“障碍”面前，双双败下阵来。事实胜于雄辩。周队长惋惜而郑重地告诉罗记者，消防中队没有什么超级英雄，有的，只是普通消防兵。　　正在罗记者为自己偏执的选择感到失望时，火情警报将二中队拉到某失火爆炸的化工厂。二中队担任救援任务，罗记者、张摄像冒着生命危险进入火场，给龙大川和石鹏的救援行动带来不必要的麻烦。生命危及关头，周队长及时赶到，以鲜活的事实告诉罗记者，平凡的生命比超级英雄更重要。

But even for this, the price will be very high.　　To this simple story, the journalist, writer, poet, scriptwriter, movie director, and film theoretician Béla Balázs applied many years of experience. He and the director Géza Radványi created a work which opened a new postwar chapter in Hungarian film. Surprisingly, this film has not lost any of its impact over the years, especially on a profound philosophical level. That is to say, it is not merely a movie about war; it is not important in what location and in what period of time it takes place. It is a story outside of time about the joyless fate of children who pay dearly for the cruel war games of adults.　　At the time it was premiered, the movie was enthusiastically received by the critics. The main roles were taken by streetwise boys of a children's group who created their roles improvisationally in close contact with a few professional actors, and in the children's acting their own fresh experience of war's turmoil appears to be reflected. At the same time, their performance fits admirably into the mosaic of a very complex movie language. Balázs's influence revealed itself, above all, in the introductory sequences an air raid on an amusement park, seen in a montage of dramatic situations evoking the last spasms of war, where, undoubtedly, we discern the influence of classical Soviet cinematography. Shooting, the boy's escape, the locomotive's wheels, the shadows of soldiers with submachine guns, the sound of a whistle—the images are linked together in abrupt sequences in which varying shots and expressive sharp sounds are emphasized. A perfectly planned screenplay avoided all elements of sentimentality, time-worn stereotypes of wronged children, romanticism and cheap simplification. The authors succeeded in bridging the perilous dramatic abyss of the metamorphosis of a children's community. Their telling of the story (the scene of pillaging, the assault on the castle, etc) independently introduced some neorealist elements which, at that time, were being propagated in Italy by De Sica, Rossellini, and other film artists. The rebukes of contemporary critics, who called attention to formalism for its own sake have been forgotten. The masterly art of cameraman Barnabás Hegyi gives vitality to the poetic images. His angle shots of the children, his composition of scenes in the castle interior, are a living document of the times, and underline the atmosphere and the characters of the protagonists. The success of the picture was also enhanced by the musical art of composer Dénes Buday who, in tense situations, inserted the theme of the Marseilaise into the movie's structure, as a motive of community unification, as an expression of friendship and the possibility of understanding.　　Valahol Europaban is the first significant postwar Hungarian film. It originated in a relaxed atmosphere, replete with joy and euphoria, and it includes these elements in order to demonstrate the strength of humanism, tolerance, and friendship. It represents a general condemnation of war anywhere in the world, in any form.
